Can anyone on here tell me what year the McDonald's on 17th street opened? I heard it was one of the first in the country. I graduated from Central in 1981, went to T-High one year before it changed over. And btw, I met my first wife at that McDonald's! I can be reached at "twinpeaksfan@aol.com". Thank you!
Hello, you young whippersnapper! It's possible that some in our class had children in your class!
I think the McDonalds was built around 1961 or 1962. I remember the excitement of watching the cooks flip the 15-cent hamburgers. The franchisee was a Chicago dentist who was able to get a Tuscaloosa franchise. By the time the Tuscaloosa McDonalds was built, I believe there were already a few hundred around the country.
In the "Comment as:" selection list below, pick "Name/URL", then type your name (including maiden name if appropriate). If you don't wish to use your full name, type your first name and enough of your last name that classmates can identify you, e.g. 'Jim Str...'. Leave "URL" blank.
